Designed by OPEN Architecture, the Cube of Change: Meitu Cube Visual Arts Center sits between the ocean and mountains on Xiamen’s East Rim coastal area. Conceived as a simple yet adaptable cube, its dynamic façades can open and close, enable natural ventilation, shield sunlight, and glow at dusk. Inside, flexible spaces can host exhibitions, screenings, performances, and public events. The open circulation weaves galleries, terraces, and platforms into a continuous and immersive journey, inviting visitors to become part of the space.
Integrating passive and active sustainability measures, such as rainwater collection and photovoltaics, the project merges art, technology, and civic life in an exhibition venue that also serves as an open public platform. The project broke ground on April 25, 2026.
